The Founder’s started Pain to Purpose after the heartbreaking loss of their son in 2012. Through this profound pain, they found solace in cooking and serving others. Guided by their faith and support from family, they were inspired to create a nonprofit that extends love, compassion, and hope to the homeless community in New Orleans. With a heart for service and a deep trust in God’s plan, they have dedicated their life to helping others rebuild theirs, one meal and one act of kindness at a time.
In 2012, Our world shattered when we lost our son. The pain was overwhelming, but rather than turning to anger, I sought comfort in cooking. It was my way of easing the hurt. One day, while on my way to work, God spoke to me and said, ‘Feed my sheep.’ At first, I didn’t understand what that meant, but a few weeks later, He spoke again and directed me to Cleveland and North Claiborne. When I looked around, I saw a multitude of people living under the bridge, and I finally understood what God was telling me. With very little ourselves, my husband and I worried about how we could afford to help, but I reminded him, ‘When God gives you a vision, He will provide.’ From that moment, I knew my purpose was to serve those in need with love. Despite my loss, I never lost faith in God. He carried me through, and now, everything I do is in honor of my son and with the unwavering belief that God’s love provides for all.
In the various years, we've increased greatly; feeding over 700 homeless and low-income individuals twice a month at two different locations every month. Pain To Purpose Ministry creates a safe and inclusive environment where homeless & low-income individuals are not only provided with basic necessities but are also empowered to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose. Through compassionate care, holistic support services, and collaborative partnerships, we aspire to be a beacon of hope and a catalyst for positive change in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. Because of the many years we've served and the consistency in which we serve over these years , we have built personal relationships with each of these individuals. They are familiar with us and know that we care.
